Fibroblasts are the principal type of cells found in the connective tissues. These cells are responsible for the deposit of collagen after an injury occurs. Immobilization increases density and unorganized deposition of these tissues, where early movement allows proper alignment of new fibers in the original line of function. (Loghmani and Warden 2009) Interestingly though in this study when comparing the intervention and non-intervention groups there was minimal effect on the overall outcome.
What would be the reason the authors would see minimal change in overall outcome between the two groups?
